does the job, very reliable -- but those "status lights" don't blink June 28, 2007 James Huff (Los Angeles, CA United States) 65 out of 66 found this review helpful
I have been using this little hub with an Intel iMac for over 3 years now without any problems. I have all five ports on the back in use most of the time (scanner, hard drive, EyeTV, two printers), and I use the two top ports for camera and USB flash drive connections. There have never been any problems with the hub, and it is heavy enough/stable enough to stay in place on my desktop when I insert/remove cables. Because it is self-powered, there's no problem with powering non-self-powered USB devices. It is also quite small--about 3.5"w x 5.5"l x .5"h. The only caveat is this: those "status lights" don't blink to indicate activity, as the product description claims. They only light up to show that a device is connected to the port and powered on. For me, this doesn't matter, but others may care about this. Overall, very reliable and well-designed device.
Excellent product for USB-hungry needs at a good price with compact design February 21, 2008 Marthaman (Los Angeles, CA USA) 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
This small package 7 port USB 2.0 hub is excellent in design and use. It is priced very attractively on Amazon. I had concerns when I reviewed a previous review that indicated shortcomings including "not all 7 ports are USB 2.0" and "plugging in a USB 1.0 device slows down all devices plugged into the hub." I corresponded with Belkin before purchase and they indicated that all 7 ports were USB 2.0 capable, and that individual USB 1.0 devices plugged into the hub did not effect the performance of other devices plugged into the hub. [Reading through the web literature, it is possible that earlier versions of some USB 2.0 hubs -- maybe even this one -- had such technical limitations.] My short-term experience with this device is that it works as indicated. I don't know of its long-term durability. As a first impression, I highly recommend it.
Belkin USB 2.0 7-Port Hub, White May 26, 2007 Asshur S. Lazar (Palatine, Illinois United States) 34 out of 36 found this review helpful
I love this Belkin 2.0 7-port USB Hub. I have never had any problems with Belkin hubs, they are sturdy and reliable. I love the design features on this particular hub because it provides two ports on top for flash drives where they can be easily accessed, backward compatibility, seven total ports and a cord management system on the right side facing front to help manage the cord for my Saitek X52 Flight control system. This is a great product and Amazon gave me the best price by a wide margin.
Powered ports aplenty. July 27, 2008 Peter Reeve (Thousand Oaks, CA USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
When you rewire your house, you are sure you have fitted enough electrical outlets - but you'll one day wish you had more. And when you buy a PC you're confident it has all the USB ports you'll need - and soon find it hasn't. There are many USB hubs on the market that solve this problem. I did a lot of research before settling on the F5U307. The reviews were generally favorable, the price was competitive and Belkin was a brand I was comfortable with, so I went for this one, and first impressions are that I made a good choice.
If you are going to get a hub, you may as well go for 7 ports rather than less - as I say, you'll eventually need them. Also, you are better with a powered unit, like this one. Some hubs are not self-powered, which will cause you problems when you connect peripherals that draw their power from the computer.
Connecting it to my Dell Inspiron Vista machine was simple. A couple of seconds after I plugged it in, a message informed me that the driver was installed and the hub was ready for use.
If I encounter any problems with it in the future, I'll update this review, but for the moment it's working fine.

Great Port with a couple of minor problems June 9, 2009 Dirk J. Willard (Chicago, IL) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is an outstanding port. It's fast and can, theoretically handle 7 USB devices --- that's theoretically. In truth, the port hub can handle 5-6 devices because the connection plugs are too close together. Here's the other problem: heat. The unit is very warm when operating. This is only a problem if you put it on top of something else, like I did, initially; I put it on my external drive.
